At Hotel Grischa, reducing emissions and conserving natural resources are a top priority. Reclaimed materials and materials from the local area were even used during construction of the hotel.

Even during the construction of the hotel in 2010, a focus was placed on sourcing materials from the local region. We made use of recycled timber from old stables, for example, and sourced granite from the Bernina region.

Our restaurants source only the best regional products from local producers. For ingredients that do not grow in the region, we turn to sustainable production.

Our extensive wine list of over 180 wines includes only fine vintages from around Europe, thus mostly avoiding long transit distances.

In our restaurants you can enjoy the best Davos water in Grischa bottles, which are produced in Europe. We donate half the proceeds from these sales to good causes. Fresh mountain water is of course available in the rooms for free.

From nature’s
source

We make tasty stock from vegetable scraps or even bones. The remaining organic waste is processed into biogas and used as an energy resource. Bread waste is passed on to our farmers.

For our shampoos, hand soaps and body lotions with our own Grischa scent, we use large, refillable bottles to help reduce the waste from small plastic containers.

For the sake of the environment, we only change towels and bed linen and clean rooms at your request. Do you need housekeeping for two nights? If not, we can conserve such valuable resources as water, energy and cleaning products.

At Hotel Grischa, people and their needs are at the heart of everything we do. We maintain a friendly atmosphere in which everyone is treated with consideration and respect.

The well-being of our employees is particularly important to us. We are committed to fair working conditions and remuneration, and have created around 140 jobs in the region.

As an employer company, we work closely with the La Capriola Foundation, providing professional industry training to persons with special needs. Every winter, we also host a ski camp in association with Plusport Behindertensport Schweiz for people with disabilities.

We make our premises available to associations for a small fee of CHF 50.00. It is important to us to support the important volunteer work in Davos Klosters and to provide a space for social meetings and discussion.

Swissstainable
Sustainable travel doesn’t necessarily mean having to go without. Sustainable travel means greater awareness and depth and more enjoyment. We have been involved with Switzerland Tourism’s sustainability programme since 2021.

Programme of the Energy Agency for the Swiss Private Sector (EnaW)
By participating in this programme, which is recognised by the Swiss Confederation and the cantons, we are committed to actively reducing CO₂ emissions and optimising our energy efficiency. The average CO₂ consumption of all participating businesses is around 20 kg per night. In 2022, we consumed just 5.6 kg per night and were thus significantly below the average.

IBEX Fairstay
The sustainability organisation for the hotel industry awards its quality labels in the areas of quality of management, careful use of resources, regional focus, social balance, finance and performance.

Every year, BILANZ, Le Temps and Statista name the most ‘climate-conscious companies in Switzerland’, recognising companies that have achieved the greatest reductions in greenhouse gas emissions relative to turnover. For the past two years, we came in at 63rd and 62nd place in this list.

We are proud to be part of the hotel cooperation Responsible Hotels of Switzerland, which includes the most ecologically and socially sustainable hotels in Switzerland.
